Step # 5 - Taking measurements

This is the last step before we begin designing your new kitchen, and the most important.

First make a sketch of your present kitchen (including your appliances) on a piece of graph paper or you can user our Floor Plan Grid. Click here to view the file and print it. You will need Adobe Acrobat if you don't already have it. Click here to download it for free.

Next, take measurements of the kitchen (in inches) and put them on the sketch. Be sure to include the total width of all widows and doors (including the casing). Make a note of any special height windows. Click here if you would like to view our helpful tips on measuring your kitchen. You can use our Kitchen Measurement Worksheet to record all of your measurements. Click here to open the file and print it.

Indicate on your sketch all electrical outlets, switches, phone jacks, heat/air conditioning vents, cold air returns, etc.

Make a note of all wall coverings such as ceramic tile, Z-Brick, etc.

Congratulations! You are now ready to begin designing your dream kitchen or bath.
Bring all of your worksheets and notes with you when you meet with our design staff.
